PGC 6th Anniversary Celebration!

Thursday September 10th, 2026
By: Tracey Daleo
As we are now entering our 6th year of our Proving Ground Church Ministry, I really can’t believe how fast the time has gone and how much we have grown.  Our humble beginnings starting out in the middle of a global pandemic when other churches were closing their doors for good, somehow the little church on a dead end street in Lakehurst NJ persevered.  Looking back, God gave us the most amazing 6 families that made up our Core Team that helped start PGC and we are forever grateful for all of them. We did wonder how can we invite people to come to our new church if we had to wear masks and we aren’t allowed to be within 6 feet of each other?  Well, by Gods grace we did it!  We did have to do a major pivot from our original plans but we did get creative.  We had everything from a tractor trailer full of food and supplies to help our new neighbors in town when supplies of goods were limited (including toilet paper), to meeting for Women’s and Men’s bible studies outside in our parking lot on lawn chairs so the Word of God would not stop being heard, to the many family outreaches in our parking lot to give parents and children something to do instead of being cooped up in their homes for the night.
Since then we have grown to be as Pastor Nick says, “One Big Dysfunctional Family” and we wouldn’t have it any other way.  We absolutely love our PGC family and can’t wait to see what the coming years have in store.  One thing we know for sure is that God is Good all the time and He continues to bless our little church on a dead end street in Lakehurst NJ in a mighty way.

PGC Youth Spotlight

Thursday August 13th, 2026
By: Amanda Schreiber
Hi PGC family! For those of you who do not know me, my name is Amanda Schreiber and I am the new Youth Director for PGC. I am very excited to start a new season of youth group in September and share my love of Jesus with the teens of PGC. We meet every Wednesday night from 6:30-8:00pm. We’re looking forward to an amazing season filled with meaningful conversation, fun activities, and opportunities for students to grow in their faith while building strong friendships. Each week will include games, teaching the word, small group discussions, and time to connect with the youth;  and of course, snacks! Our goal is to create a safe welcoming environment where every student feels valued and encouraged. We point them towards Jesus and remind them that they are seen, known, and loved by God.

Serving in the Youth ministry has been so rewarding. Providing a space for the youth to learn about Jesus is something that I am passionate about. If this area of ministry sounds like a place that you would like to volunteer in, I would be happy to meet with you. We are looking for individuals with a fun personality, patience with energetic teens, and able to volunteer at least one Wednesday night a month. There are 3 areas where you can volunteer: Leader, assistant, and check-in/snack.
Serving isn't about filling a volunteer position - it's about investing in the next generation.
Be a part of something that is making a Kingdom difference.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me at the link below!

Elder Spotlight: Ron Fryson

Thursday, July 30th, 2026
By: Julia Brady
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 (NKJV)
Fun Facts About Ron
Tea or Coffee: “Tea because real men drink tea!”
Favorite Movie: The Wizard of Oz; “It’s a scientific and historical fact that it’s the greatest movie of all time”
Hobbies: Music, playing the drums, songwriting, and recording

Ron Fryson was born in Alaska and grew up in Toms River, where he resides with his wife Lynne and their son Jesse. After an extensive search online for a home-church, Ron came across Proving Ground Church. After watching multiple sermons online, Ron found Pastor Nick’s preaching and the teaching of the church to be solid. Ron and his family attended PGC’s Silent Saturday service before Easter, and knew that this was the church they would call home. Five years later, the entire family all currently serve at PGC in various capacities within different ministries.
Ron took on the role of Elder Chairman in January of 2026, and has served on the PGC Elder Board for three years. According to Ron, “being an elder is a privilege and a high calling which I take seriously. In a growing church like PGC where we only have one pastor on staff, our responsibilities are magnified. Elders are a vital part of the ministry. We are stewards of the property,  the finances and most importantly, the spiritual well being of the church. We’re also the support system for the pastor. We oversee and are involved in several ministries of the church. We are called on at times to fill in for the pastor to preach in his absence, which is both an honor and great responsibility.”
When asked about the Vision of PGC, and what is most exciting about where God is leading us as a church, Ron stated “I believe the best years of PGC are yet to come. God has given Pastor Nick an amazing vision to reach our community and strengthen the body of Christ. We are growing. We are reaching beyond our four walls and making disciples around the world by simply introducing people to Jesus. Our church remains open, transparent and welcoming. We continue to live out our motto: “Loving people where they’re at, because Christ loves us where we are.”

Kids Min Volunteers

By: Tiffany Nagy
VBS has wrapped up and things have slowed down allowing for us to truly reflect on the many blessings that came from our incredible week together. We witnessed heart change, children dedicating their lives to the Lord and many God moments that left us in awe. God continues to move through PGC and has blessed us abundantly. As we prepare for growth, we pray to be able to expand our children’s ministry and welcome new volunteers to an ever growing, ever evolving part of our church. If you have been blessed by VBS or our children’s ministry and have felt a tug to get involved, jump on the app or website to get started or click on the links below.  We can’t wait to see what God is preparing to do!
